Guilty until proven innocent….
Unless it’s an elderly white dude with a black kid on his porch. It’s sad because clearly the man charged is lost (for lack of a better term). It’s even more horrifying that the defendant was inside his house and it appears the victim was just standing on the porch after ringing the doorbell.
What’s more frustrating is the mugshot of the defendant makes him appear like a confused old man. That’s not the image we’d see if the victim was actually the defendant (this is nothing new). If he is really a confused old man he shouldn’t have a sidearm! Yep if you’re old, confused, or sad, you should be prohibited from owning a firearm. I said what I said!
Here’s an option – don’t open the door (if you’re so racist you need to have a gun when you open the door for a black man). Ummm did he need to open the door? Did he peek out the window before opening the door? Did he have his gun next to him while watching I Love Lucy?
If he did that’s weird because it was a .32 caliber! Who walks around with a .32 in their house? Was it appendix carry in a Kydex holster?
Was he in bed when the doorbell rang?
Would he have shown up with a .32 if it was Rich from next door looking for a tow strap because his truck was stuck? This doesn’t help the ever-so-popular statement “It takes a good guy with a gun…”.
Reporting says the words exchanged were “Don’t you come around here again”.
So innocent until proven guilty – sure! It doesn’t appear this man had reasonable concern for his life or those inside the house. He could have sat his white ass down, dialed 911, and waited. If the kid had pounded the door down and entered, then the narrative is different. What appears to have happened is he opened the door, exchanged words, and shot him because he was black and in “this guy’s” neighborhood (the wrong neighborhood).
Now for my rightwing Orange Cheeto fans – during COVID it was all the rage to speak of fear when people discussed masks or vaccines. So why does a doorbell ringing at 10 PM constitute such a level of fear – you are fearing for your life? If I’m being honest rather than I Love Lucy this guy was watching Pucker Carlson on FOX NEWS and thought all the rhetoric had finally come to get HIM.
The system isn’t broken it’s working as designed!
